One more day
Well, it is Tuesday and we are one day closer to getting out of here. We just want to take our son and go home. Joe has been having nightmares about the plane trip home. Not about crashing, it's about Ethan screaming the entire way from Kiev to JFK. Please pray that this does not happen. Also, next Monday night we will more than likely be taking the train from here back to Kiev. This is a long trip and we know Ethan will be scared. We'll need prayer that night too.
Today, Ethan showed us his 2-yr old tantrum in a big way. We were letting him look at pictures on our camera when he decided he wanted to take the camera and go play with it. Of course, we told him that it was not a toy and that he couldn't have it. This turned into a struggle and I think we won. He pouted and rolled around on the floor for probably 15 minutes. We just sat there and watched him. Natasha reprimanded him in Russian and so did the resident doctor who happened to be walking by. He is a VERY strong-willed child and we will have lots of opportunity to help shape him.
We tried his new winter coat on him today. He was so excited, however, it was probably 2-sizes too big. Oops! It's hard to shop for a child when you've never had them before and he won't let you measure him! So, we gave the coat to Stan and Lydia and suggested they try it on the older boy they are adopting. We will be meeting them tonight for pizza. We've spent quite a bit of time with them as they are visiting Artur (Nathan) every morning while we are with Ethan.
That's all for now.
Maybe more tomorrow.

Hi you two
Good to hear from you. sounds like you are handling things in the"right" way.of course sometimes there will seem there is no "right" way you just got to trust your instincts and "Do it" God will lead you in your journey with him. Have fun the next few days altho it will be frustrating, Remember:If God leads you to it, he will lead you through it" It will make some good memories for later and you'll be able to laugh about it. sometimes laughter isn't only the best medicine its the only choice you have .:) Prayers and Best Wishes Shelley
Hi there,
Yes, we WILL be praying for a safe and speedy trip home, uneventful for all of you. Ethan will have you for trust, safety and security as he will be completely out of his element - but you will be there as his constant comfort. That is my prayer for you. And, knowing Delta, you will be in the very, very back of the plane - out of earshot of most passengers! lol
Today is just about gone for you by now, taking you one step closer to your journey home. Have a great day & evening and a successful visit! Miss you.... Bet you will be glad to step foot back in the USA with friends & family and english!
Hey guys,
Good days and bad days are all a part of the joy of being a parent!Tricia has just figured out that she can throw really good fits when she wants to, but trust in the Lord that it is all a learning experience for them and us. Ethan will have rough days, but that is why God picked you two to be his parents. You can handle it. He needs you and you guys need him, that love covers everything! SO, don't worry - take the good and the bad and just love the stuffing right out of that little guy!
Can't wait to see you all.
Love Marjorie & Family
Hey Stepny
2 things:
1) Remember Andrew's meltdown in the gym? (That's all I have to say about that!)
2) Check your email(Please)-811
Joe, I have one word to say about your trip back: Benadryl. Good stuff for kids for long trips.
Also new busy toys that will take a long time to loose interest in that he has never seen until he is on the plane. We will have a time of prayer for you at our class party on friday night.
Have a good one.
Steve
Hi, Every day that passes gets you closer home. We will be praying the train trip goes well, and of course the plane trip also. Poor little guy will probably be scared to death. But I am confident there is a level of trust between the 3 of you, plus God will be there with you to see you through this. He did not start you on this process to fail. Be strong in Him. Hey, Beth Moland wants to do an article on you guys for the Winchester newspaper!!!Are you up for that in the near future? She wants to know if it is ok that I give her your e-mail address. I gave her this blog site, and she is keeping track of developments. She does human interest stories for the paper.
Much love and prayers. Mom&Dad H.
We spent the weekend in Chicago with a teething toddler so we understand tantrums! It'll be funny one day...later...much later... :)
Hang in there...it really is fun most of the time!
We'll be praying about the trip home!
